Perimenopause and trouble sleeping

In 2008, The Journal of Sleep reported that 40 percent of women between 40 and 55 have trouble getting a good night's rest. The culprit? Perimenopause, the hormonal changes leading up to menopause.

Natural sleep aid Total Sleep can help. How? Tryptophan. With hormonal fluctuations (such as in perimenopause), Tryptophan levels plummet. Tryptophan is an amino acid that starts our sleep cycle. If we don't have sufficient levels of Tryptophan, we can't get to sleep or stay asleep.

Take Total Sleep nightly to restore your Tryptophan levels and sleep naturally.

4 tips to reset your body's sleep clock

Whether you're a night owl or an early riser, you can reset your sleep clock.

1. Wake up every day at the same time--even on the weekend.
2. Seek light: When you wake up, expose yourself to sun for 20 minutes or 10,000 lux of light.
3. Try tryptophan, it's the main ingredient in natural sleep aid Total Sleep. Tryptophan starts your sleep cycle.*
4. Put yourself in a position to sleep. Power down all electronics a few hours before bed, avoid spicy food, avoid caffeine and avoid exercise before bed.

These recommendations came from Helene Emsellem, director of the Center for Sleep and Wake disorders in Chevy Chase, Md. Click here to read the full article.

*Emsellem recommends you try melatonin, but the precursor to melatonin is tryptophan. We believe to take advantage of the full sleep cycle, start at the beginning, which is with tryptophan. Our customers report a groggy next morning with melatonin alone. You try and tell us what you think.

Do you get 7-8 hours of sleep a night?

Why is it so important to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night? Studies show you're 12 percent more likely to die earlier than if you logged 6-8. If that is not enough, getting less than 7 disrupts hunger-relating hormones, causing weight gain.

If you can't get to sleep or stay asleep for 7-8 hours, give natural sleep aid with Tryptophan Total Sleep a try.

10 hours sleep per night = millions in the NFL

Stanford University concluded a study that showed the more extra hours of sleep football players got, the better their drill times became. After six weeks of good sleep, players average time dropped 1/10th of a second.

Another separate study found that preschoolers who had regular sleep rituals had higher scores in language and math.

You can read the article or listen by clicking here.

Note that we don't advocate giving preschoolers natural sleep aid Total Sleep, but Ambien supplies USC Trojan's with their sleep aid (which we think knocks you out and leaves you groggy so the benefits of sleep would not help sport performance). Maybe Total Sleep can supply SDSU with a sleep aid so our football team will improve, or the Chargers.

New Total Sleep customer review

Here our latest Total Sleep customer review.

For the record, I *LOVE* your product, it's the only thing that helps me sleep and I've tried everything under the sun. I'm serious, I've tried melatonin, Benadryl, Tylenol pm, and even Ambien for a while. Only Total Sleep works and I don't feel groggy the next day....thanks so much! Jenee L., Virginia
